Religious Education and Collective Worship

Religious Education and daily assemblies are an important part of the life of our school. Collective acts of worship are Christian in character. and include regular reference to the scriptures.  They also offer opportunities for children to learn more about our fundamental British Values.  However, knowledge of and respect for other faiths is an essential part of the collective worship and Religious Education curriculum at St Margaret's School.

Parents may request that their children be excluded from all or part of these activities. Any such request should be made to the Headteacher in writing.

We particularly welcome parents and friends to our family assemblies every Friday at 9am. These provide an opportunity for teachers, children and parents to share experiences together and celebrate achievements.

Collective Worship

The Aim

To provide a four-year scheme that will support primary schools to develop important individual and community values whilst meeting the statutory requirements to provide daily acts of collective worship.

The Resources

  • Each week has an overall theme.
  • Each week has one larger ‘assembly’, designed for a gathering of the whole school.
  • Each week has four smaller ‘thought for the day’ or reflections, these are suitable for Key Stage 2 but can be adapted for Key Stage 1 /Foundation Phase.
